FFA ANOUNCEMENTS

     

    • 4/3 - 4/29

          - SLC Competition - If you have already applied, this event will take place in Sacramento, CA from 4/3-4/6. There are only eight spots available, and Ms. Payan will decide which will be able to go. You will miss two days of school so make sure to communicate with your teachers. The cost of attending is estimated around $250. You must pay this fee by March 31st to Ms. Payan. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND IF YOU DO NOT PAY YOUR FEE. Attendees will get 8 FFA Points.

         - FFA Sectional Chapter Bowling Event - Come join our chapter in some bowling fun on April 9th! If you are interested, permission slips are in Ms. Payan's classroom and will be due (with $5) on April 8th! Anyone who attends will get 1 FFA Point! We only have a couple spots left, so grab them while you can!!

         - FFA SLO Sectional Officer Team - Interested in running for the SLO Sectional Officer Team? Come apply using the link below! In order to be elected, you would need to submit an application, do an interview, and give a 2-minute speech on your desired position. Your applications will be due April 24th, and the election will be held at CUHS on May 1st (from 4 PM - 9 PM)! If you have any question regarding what is required for this position/what exactly you do, come to Ms. Payan's classroom or contact her via email (dpayan@missionprep.org)!

         - Chapter Officer Application - If you are interested in becoming a chapter officer, please fill out this survey by April 11th. If you are selected, you will need to give a 2-minute speech and answer 2 pre-determined questions at our April Chapter meeting (4/29).           - FFA Easter Meeting - This is a FFA Chapter meeting happening on April 29th after school @ 3:30 PM. You will be listening to FFA Officer candidates giving speeches for the first half of the meeting, and then we will go in a school wide Easter egg hunt! If you attend you will get 1 FFA point and if you are running for an officer position, you will get 3 FFA points

    • 5/1 - 5/28

         - SLO FFA Sectional Officer Elections - This past Thursday, 4 of our FFA members attended the SLO FFA Sectional Officer Elections at Coast Union High School! Our president, Reagan Schmitt, represented our chapter on the nominee committee reviewing panel, Jasper Harris ran for sectional officer, and Kennedy Borough and Addie Blake served as voting delegates. Both Blake and Borough listened to candidate speeches and placed their votes for next year's sectional team for 2025-2026. We are so proud of our FFA chapter and the accomplishment they have made!

         - FFA Banquet - Come join our FFA Chapter at our beloved school for a night of awards and recognition! This will be on May 9th at 5:30 PM and RSVP are required. When we get closer to the date, more info will be released regarding the RSVP. Students will be recognized for their involvement in the FFA, and we will announce the new MCP FFA Chapter Officers for 25-26. Anyone who also signed up to earn their Greenhand Degree will also be recognized at the banquet! Students would receive 1 FFA Point per dish they bring if they decided to sign up. All FFA attendees will also earn 1 FFA Point. If you are a MCP student or a guest to the banquet, you must purchase a ticket. Only members of the FFA program are allowed to get in for free. 

        - FFA Banquet Donations - We are taking donations for the annual FFA Banquet next Friday! The last day to donate is May 1st, so make sure to email Ms. Payan if you have any questions about donations (dpayan@missionprep.org)! We will begin the banquet with a small silent auction with each item your student has donated to our chapter. Each item a student has donated will earn them 1 FFA Point. All of these funds will go directly into our program to help us fund more fun experiences for your student within our chapter. Items will be available for viewing at 5:00 PM if you and your family are interested in buying. Next year, our chapter plans on running our very own Barn Bash alongside the banquet to shed light on these remarkable local products and continue to raise funds for our awesome program!

        - Banquet Senior Recognition Form - If you have a senior that is involved in an FFA class, they need to fill out this form. This will allow them to be recognized at our MCP FFA Banquet! There will be a list of instruction on the Google Form of what you need to complete. We would like to have 5-10 photos of you throughout the years (family photos/livestock photos/etc.)!

        - Mother's Day Flowers - Mission College Prep is involved in a program that support women who have sustained domestic abuse and are single parents. Every year, we make flower bouquets and give the money we sell to the organization. Our FFA chapter is happy to offer 1 FFA point or 1 Service Hour to anyone that designs a flower bouquet. You must have at least 3 blooms, 5 greens, and must be able to fit four bud vases. If you don't want to design and need community service hours, you can fill the vases for up to 2-3 service hours. The construction date is May 7th from 2:45 - 5:45; you can either time in 1 FFA Point or 3 community service hours!

         - SAE/FFA POINTS REMINDER!! - This is a reminder for all AG students to finish up your SAE projects and collect all of your FFA points! SAE hours will be due on 5/28 @ MIDNIGHT. We only have a few more opportunities to get your FFA points up, so use your time wisely!
